SERVICES

We offer the following special clinics :

Antenatal Clinic : Weekly by Appointment on a Tuesday and Springwell Medical CentreWednesday morning ( 08:30 - 11:30) with the community midwives

Contraceptive services : We provide a full range of contaceptive services . Most are provided at normal surgery appointments. You will be asked to make a special appointment if you wish to have a diaphragm (cap), IUCD (coil) or Implanon(Implant).

Post coital contraception (the morning after pill) is available. It is important that you take this as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. If you need this please ask the receptionist for a same day appointment.

Cervical Smear : Routine appointment with the practice nurse

Child Health Clinic : For assessment of the health and development of your child. This clinic is run by Dr Dickson and the Health Visitors on Thursday morning and the first assessment takes place when your baby is 6-8 weeks old

Cardiovasular Clinic : Run by Nurse Pauline on a weekly basis on a Tuesday morning.

Diabetic Clinic : Run by Nurse Pauline bi-weekly on a Thursday morning.

Springwell Medical CentreChest/Asthma Clinic: Run by Nurse Sandra on a weekly basis on a Wednesday morning.

Blood Pressure Clinic: A routine appointment to have your Blood Pressure checked can be made with the Health Assistant (Laura) on any afternoon except a Tuesday.

 

Heart Clinic : A routine appointment can be made with the doctor, alternatively at the Cardiovascular Clinic with Nurse Pauline .

Cryotherapy (Wart) clinic : Run by Nurse Anne normally on first Tuesday morning of the month.

Travel Clinic: To enable us to assess and advise you on the protection you require you will require to complete our Travel Advice form at least 8 weeks before you travel and ideally 12 - weeks ahead . The Travel Advice form can be dowloaded  by clicking on the link. A separate form is required for each patient travelling. The completed form should be handed in to the surgery or if sent by post addressed to :

On receipt of your form we will assess your requirements and then give you a
call to explain what vaccinations/medication you require and also if there will be any charges. (Please note some injections and malaria medications are not available on the NHS and attract a  charge). We will then make an appointment  for you with the Practice Nurse
   
 

Smoking Cessation Clinic : A routine appointment can be made with the doctor who can then refer you to a clinic.

Non NHS Examinations : Medical examinations for special purposes e.g. pre-employment, life insurance or to participate in certain sports require a full medical. Medical examinations require a special long appointment (normally at 5pm in the evening ) and there is usually a fee for special examinations which we require to be paid in advance . Click here for details of current charges
